How to add weight data to your inventory

Guide to Adding Weight Information for Products on Gumliz

Gumliz allows sellers to set shipping rates based on the weight of individual items or the total order weight. To ensure accurate shipping cost calculations, we recommend that you provide numerical weight values and their corresponding units in your product listings.

If weight data is missing for certain items, you can set a default item weight to apply only to those listings.

1. Supported Weight-Based Shipping Rate Types

• Item Weight: Shipping fees are calculated based on the weight of each item.

• Order Weight: Shipping fees are calculated based on the total weight of the order.

2. How to Add Weight Data to Your Product Listings

You can add weight information manually or via inventory files, depending on your workflow.

Manual Entry:

• Log into your Seller Dashboard.

• Go to Manage Products.

• Select a product to edit and click Edit.

• Enter the item weight (e.g., 0.5) and select the appropriate unit (kg, g, lb, oz).

• Click Save to apply the changes.

3. For Listings Missing Weight Data

You can request to set a default listing weight for items without weight data. This default value will only be used to calculate shipping costs for weight-based zones.

To set your default item weight:

• Email our support team at [email protected]

• Include your desired default item weight (e.g., 0.3 kg or 300 g)

• Our team will assist you in applying the setting to your account

4. Accepted Weight Units

• GRAMS (g)

• KILOGRAMS (kg)

• OUNCES (oz)

• POUNDS (lb)

We recommend using the same weight unit consistently across your product listings. However, our system is able to automatically convert units if they differ.
